Sorry if I'm in either the wrong Forum or whatever but, as will be apparent, I'm a total "Newbie" trying to find out about things.

We are contemplating a move to N.Norfolk & I wondered if I can,by using the info on the Home Page, get some idea as to the feasabiliy of going for, perhaps, a new build,or a refit of,or extension to. any existing bungalow we might come across up there.

Do the estimates that are given a) up to date &
                                                    b) inclusive of mains services,kitchen
                                                         fittings,etc?

Sorry if I should already be aware of such things but we all have to start somewhere!

Many thanks for any guidance anyone might be able to give.

(PS) I'm not talking self build-I'm passed that now!

Thanks

Hi Pak

The prices are pretty up to date as we continue to get new price submissions from people visiting our site, however you must realise that these are estimates only and the final price will depend a great deal on the details of the job in hand.  For example we have had a recent price that quotes £1500 per square metre for doing a loft conversion. This compares to between £500 and £1000 per square metre for doing a house extension.

Hope this helps, please just look around the site and some of the detailed submissions that we have, this should give you a good idea of the price variations!

Typically prices for new builds will include cost of kichen fittings, connection to mains drainage etc, but the quality of the internals will vary depending on the builders budget. However, as webmaster says below the prices are user submitted and sometimes the details aren't as specific as one would like.

For example a new kitchen could cost anywhere from a few thousand pounds to 10's of thousands depending on the materials and units.

We typically find its tricky to get the balance between asking for too much information from people (and end up with none) and asking for too little (hence the info is nigh-on useless). I'm sure we haven't got it right yet but its a start and we hope its mostly helpful to people.

Budgeting £750 per square metre would give one a good estimate of building costs including fittings prior to getting proper quotations.
