If you feel you have been ripped off for something, whether its something you have bought, or some service you have bought, then let off some steam here!

Well yes...

Why do you have to move supplier to keep getting the best deal? The uswitch culture really pee's me off. I don't want to have to keep changing car insurance or internet provider but companies consistently offer better deals to join than to stay.

yes I realise its exactly because of the 'can't be arsed' nature of people that market forces dictate this is so, but why can't companies reward loyalty more than hopping between one deal and the next?!

nationwide building tried to market themselves to buck this trend but was it a success and will any other companies follow suit? maybe its just me...

My house insurance company sent me a renewal quote which I thought was pretty high. So I redid the quote using their website and found that they offered by the same insurance for nearly half the price!! Same company, different way of renewing my insurance. It should be illegal. If I had just waved the insuarance renewal through then I would be paying nearly twice as much for the same insurance policy from the same company

Mobile phone companies are the absolute worst. I tried for ages trying to persuade one company to give me a better phone after having the old 1 for 3 years. Appparently all the great deals they were offering were for "new customers only". However the tone completely changed when I wanted to cancel my contract. I was immediately whisked off to their "customer services" department where I was sweet talked and offered all manner of offers and deals. Now everytime I want a new phone I just say that I want to cancel my contract! Simple, but why should it be like that?

virgin media (and probably sky etc) are the same.

They've been offering good introductory rates for customers for a while now meaning they could get reasonable BB, TV and phone for £30 a month. I was paying £80 a month with them and tried to see what I could get off by suggesting I might go to sky (which works for a lot of people). The best they could offer me was to downgrade my services and hence pay less!

My BB and TV was out for a day when I was supposed to be working from home. I lost pretty much a days pay. They offered my £30.

I have now left VM and really joined Sky (on an OK deal) and BT. Hence I've joined the u-switch culture - doh. At least I had the satisfaction of telling them to screw their £1000 a year contract Smiley.

Currys were selling a Dishwasher reduced from £450 down to £350. Dixons online (owned by the same company I think?) were selling it for £279 + £15 delivery!

So even with a discount from an unimaginably high price, the high street was far more expensive. Hey, is that why they call it the 'high' street??

You are absolutely correct. My wedding (15 years ago) cost about $200.

I had a pretty sun dress, he wore a nice suit. We had a Justice of the Peace ($50 including tip) champagne, and small savories.

Our money was invested in a home and a start to our lives together. I never saw the reason to blow a house downpayment on ice statues of swans, or in a 5K dress that you wear once and worry about in the attic after that.

We had a nice honeymoon and a beautiful home to start making a family for. My friends struggled for years to pay off the wedding debt.
