Having struggled for many years with creating the perfect steak I found this on the internet http://tastebudchicago.com/blog/how-to-cook-steak/ (http://tastebudchicago.com/blog/how-to-cook-steak/). It worked an absolute treat, except I didnt have a meat thermometer and just had to guess how long to keep it in the oven.

Anyone else want to share some simple, yet darn good, reciepes and techniques for cooking the perfect lump of meat?

Vegaterians should look away....

This one really made me laugh!

"http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yorkshire/6538643.stm (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_yorkshire/6538643.stm)"

Scientists 'perfect' bacon butty.

My favourite bit is "Four researchers at the Department of Food Science spent more than 1,000 hours testing 700 variations on the traditional bacon sandwich."

God I want that job!!!

Here it is! http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6530258

"Once the meat is browned and the caramelised onions are ready (an hour’s work at most) the sauce is virtually left to simmer unattended for 8 hours. Do the prep first thing in the morning and then the day’s your own until it’s time to serve up dinner"

8 hours!

my wife wasn't impressed with the thought of cooking something for 8hrs.

Ive tried making 'authentic' curry's using all the correct fresh-ish spices and it can take hours. At the end it tastes OK, but still you can get a take away that is as nice or better for £4!

the spag bol does sound intriguing though Undecided
