Hi,

my husband and i are interested in starting a worm farm and would like to know more about them and how to start one.

any help would be great.

HI Michelle, the best place to start would be to read the article at http://www.whatprice.co.uk/gardening/worm-farm.html it gives a hopefully comprehensive overview, but was written a while ago.

Since writing that article I have found that worm farms are really really easy. You just need a nice dark airy and moist place for the worms to live in and they will be completely happy. The stacking tray systems are a good way to start, but they are pretty pricy. For my second worm farm I just bought a big wooden box, lined the bottom and sides with some old thick yellow pages and other catalouges (so that the worms didn't just eat through the wood) and then bought 1/2 kilo of worms from wigglywigglers.com.

YEH, NOTHING WRONG WITH WORM FARMS, HAVE NOTHING AGAINST WORM FARMS, They will come in handy for all the dead bodies who have been left laying in the street after the next war against the government for not doing some thing about the plastic that is being used in the supermarkets.

Yes, of course I am being stupid, have you heard yourself and the subjects you go on about, when you have had to stand outside a place that is killing animals in the name of............? and be unable to do some thing about it, then you will see just how stupid you sound, plastic smastic, take a look at what is under your nose, just check out the PETA SITE, I have been there, seen the film, worn the tea shirt, when I came accross this website. phew.

PETA - isn't that a type of plastic?

what do you expect a website that is mostly about 'home and garden' issues to discuss? Terrorist acts? Animal cruelty? Appears this is the case.

Why not go to a site that should be discussing those things and if they are not then preach to them?
