Hi ,
We are a family of four with kids aged 9 and 7, we are in our mid 30s.  My question is this, we currently pay £45 a month to cover us all with denplan, we recently received an offer of an NHS dentist but not in our local town (means about a 35 mile round trip), should we go with the nhs dentist although it is further than we normally travel to the dentist, or stick with denplan?

£45 a month, i.e costing you £540 a year. It really depends on what you get for that? Check-ups? Any fillings?

For the NHS to be more expensive you'll have ot have a few fillings a year, and make the car journey a large number of times.

generally NHS will always be cheaper, BUT longer waiting times and probably not quite as a good a service

Under the NHS you have little choice in the materials used. For instance amalgam would normally be used on the NHS, but a non-metallic filling could be done under Denplan.

Denplan is a complete rip-off. the amount of patients we see every year complaining of denplan! you'd be better off registering with an NHS dentist. you could aways try and find a NHS dentist nearer you yourselves. You may be put on a waiting list for a short period of time but most dental practices revise their waiting lists every 2-3 months!
