RH I wouldnt be quite so harsh on the Dentists. Sure I think they earn a decent wage, but they do have to go through 7 ( I think) years of training (unpaid training with all their living expenses) and then they have to stare into peoples mouths all day! So quite a lot of investment and dedication to learn the trade, and then, well a lot of staring into people's mouths

Also the actual cost of running a dentistry is pretty high, all those medications cost s fortune and all the fancy Xray machines, dental tools, drills, suction thingies, they all add up!

Welcome to the forum kj,

Are there any typical earnings figures for dentists that you could quote? It's obviously a very skilled job and as webmaster says takes a huge amount of time to train for but it would be interesting to know how much a dentist, on average, would earn.

As a perspective I know a carpet fitter earning £50k a year and he didn't do 7 years unpaid training!
