Hi

New to this site. I have not been to dentist for about 3 years due to not haveing one in my area. I have just moved to a new area and am told my local dentist is taking NHS patients on.

I have a hole in the top of one of my bottom front teeth. It's not that deep and can't be seen when I smile.
Does anyone know what kind of treatment this would involve to correct this and how much it would cost. I think I will also need some fillings.

Thanks in advance

Hi Steve, and welcome to this site.

It sounds like you need a filling in that tooth, so if you go on with the NHS it will probably cost you £43.60 which is the standard rate for a normal filling. Note that as it is not visible when you smile you won't have a choice over what type o filling you get (i.e you probably wont get a white one of the NHS). In theory you shouldn't have to pay the initial £15.90 for the first consultation as you require more work, but that will depend on how long it takes from initial check up to having the treatment done.

If you decide to go private you'll probably end up paying in the region of £87 (our average price at the moment for a small filing) however it could easily vary from £50-£120. Also you'll probably have ot pay for an initial consultation and some x-rays, usually this will be another £50

Hope this helps!

Hi

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. I've just not been for so long I worry I'm gonna go and say I need loads of work and my teeth are falling out. I doubt that though as I'm in no pain, I just worry. I know the longer I leave it though the worse it's going to get.
