As a note. I wrote on one of the dentist pages to get a second opinion - i realise this is tricky - but I managed it.
I went to a new dentist and he said I needed two large fillings. He did one, made a right mess. Unhappy, I went elsewhere and they said nope your teeth are fine. That was 6 years ago and I still haven't had that second filling and no pain despite check-ups every 6 months. So, what was the first dentist going on about and did I need that first filling? I am doubtful.
He also wanted to give my pregnant wife an amalgam filling (and she had never had a filling in 30 years). The Department of Health says
prudent to avoid, where clinically reasonable, the placement or removal of amalgam fillings during pregnancy
. He didn't know this.
I'm not saying question every treatment plan or every dentist is like this just that it can happen.
Has anyone else had a second opinion and if so what was the outcome?
