I have neglected my teeth to the point that I am in pain constantly, but am absolutely petrified of the dentist. so much so I was trembling when phoning for an appointment. it is usually 3-5 years between my appointments and I have to be sedated intravenously. I have 5 broken teeth and 5 or 6 that have eroded around the gum line where i wear a single denture. plus other cavities.

I would like to have them all extracted and a full set of dentures fitted is this possible on the Nhs?
and at what cost? I understand it would be £198 then a further £198 when the gums have healed for a better fitting set of dentures is this correct?

a family member was recently referred to hospital for the same reason because the dentist thought the chances of her returning to finish the treatment were non existent.
hope someone can help me, thanks in advance.

go and see your dentist, explain the situation and ask for a referral for sedation to have the teeth extracted. there is a hospital referal service however this can take a long time. private referal will be expensive but much quicker. immediate dentures can be made in the mean time so you can have teeth as soon as your remaining are extracted.

Hope this helps.
