Cost of Living in Australia Compared With U.K.

Having lived in Australia I can give some facts on cost of living comparisons.
Firstly, there are two hundred thousand British people leaving Britain to live overseas every year, mainly in Australia and America. Why? The quality of life that you get for your wages in the U.K. is very low, and Australia is known to be a much more affordable country.

Britain is completely ripped off with fuel prices.
South Australian petrol prices are currently 99 CENTS per litre, which is about 40 pence. Britain is currently at 99 PENCE - over twice that of Australia. 
Everything in Britain is nearly twice the price of Australia, be it houses,household bills -cars might be the only exception and be a little bit more expensive.
British minimum wages are lower than South Australian (where i lived), so not only does your money stretch much furthur in Australia, you are getting paid a generous 'humane' wage, not like slave wages as we get in the U.K.

Living in Britain is far too expensive, and people have little chance of a good quality of life in the U.K. unless you're born into wealth. Leaving Australia was my biggest mistake, and it is very depressing to see that Britain has a much lower quality of life.  The weather here is crap too-very depressing..........
