Whats the current NHS price for getting braces?

Im assuming private would be a lot more expensive.

Im sure I read it was about £2k, but http://www.whatprice.co.uk/dentist/nhs-private-prices.html says £198??

ps. im 22, and still trying to find a NHS dentist to sign up to so can't ask them.

Hmmm

I've had a look and lo and behold the NHS site is suspiciously missing any mention of braces. I will look into this some more and try and update the site - could be a mistake.

privately braces can cost £1000's depending on the type you go for.

Braces generally are cosmetic which is maybe they aren't mentioned. however, there are clinical reasons for braces as well. It is likely that if you did manage to get braces then they would be metal ones and would cost £198 but its going to be a hard job to convince an NHS dentist to do them I think

Will write more after a little more research

Thanks

Hi.
braces are mainly for cosmetic reasons.
You will not find any high street orthodontist prepared to treat you under nhs for braces.
You should get multiple quotes for braces as there are no fixed fees for all dentist's.
You should also look up pros and cons of braces and how you will to take care of retention for a life time.

Hi!

I'm 16 and I would like to get braces as well. I went to the orthodontist and I was told that I need to wait 2 years... So, if I go back to the orthodontist and say that I'm willing to pay that £200 they will be able to do it quicker?

I'm a 19 year old student and have recently asked my dentist about getting braces. When I was younger I was told that I should leave them as my teeth would straighten up once my wisdom teeth had came through, I now have all my wisdom teeth and they are exactly the same! My current dentist quoted me £4000 to get braces which I obviously cannot afford with being a student. I just wondered if there should be any difference in prices as i'm still in education?
