Please can someone help. My daughter had a baby 3 weeks ago and is scared of the dentist. We have been to a new dental practice that will do sedetion. At her check up we have been told it will cost 1500 for a bridge 2 root canals with sedetion. Have been told that she is only entitled to get basic treatment on the NHS.I thought that root canals are basic dentistry and have had a print out with payment. I was so shocked as i thought new mums treatment was free. Any advice will be more than welcome. Thanks Ceri x

Hello Ceri,

its not the root canals but the sedation.

my young daughter was offered sedation under the NHS but maybe that only applies to kids?

in the end we went private for it as it was far quicker. however, it was a front tooth extraction (after she knocked it) and cost a couple of hundred pounds not £1500!

Have you called NHS direct?
