Hi
Lichen Planus is an autoimmune oral medicine condition and in itself should not cause your gums to recede, but as you say, can result in a rather 'tender' oral condition. Most dentists just do not have enough experience in treating this condition as it is not very common. Your GP or your dentist could refer you to a specialist in oral medicine at your nearest dental teaching hospital or if you are that fortunate, your nearest hospital with an oral medicine specialist.
