Tiling over old tiles

To tile straight over the top of old or existing tiles you will need to, use a suitable detergent or tile cleaner to remove all the dirt and grease etc on them, do this by horizontally and vertically scoring the tiles using a tile scriber, this will facilitate a bond between the old tiles and your new tiles.

Thats all well and good as long as the tiles you are tileing over are sound. otherwise what is the point.
