I need to get new dentures and I just heard about 'metal base' ones....Can anyone tell me 'safe' this metal can be to health...and also what has your experience been with wearing these, I'd imagine they could feel heavy.  Would I be better to get the acrylic plate ones.  Also anyone any idea of the price of these new metal plate dentures?  Undecided

Waiting for replies so that I can decide...thanks!

Hi, metal plate dentures are not heavy, they are lighter than thicker, bulkier plastic dentures and they allow you to taste your food and drink if you have a "skeletal" design.
The alloys used are very safe unless you have an allergy to certain alloy components, but your dentist should know about this, and you can have other alloys which don't have these components.
