Any ideas how much UPVC double glazing costs per window? And whether it improves the value of the home. Most of houses in my street have the white double glazing, so it certainly wont make mine look out of place.

You will be looking at an average window price of £350 per window fitted.

Any idea what we should be looking to pay for double glazed sash windows? uPVC or wood? The price seems a lot different to that just suggested!

james, i'm actually just getting a few quotes at the moment for some uPVC windows and £350 sounded about right for the standard style. Sadly they aren't sash windows, I image they cost an awful lot more. I've checked our database and we have little info in that area, if you could let us know some prices then maybe some other people can say whether they seem reasonable or not?

thanks for the info kaite and welcome to the forum! your price for sash windows certainly seems on the cheaper side for what we have seen, probably due to the one man business with lower overheads?

I'd been thinking about putting double glazing in, but I live in a conservation area- some houses in the street already have UPVC windows, so I guess I'd be OK? Does anyone know how long it takes to check these things out with councils?

A lot depends on your council? What restrictions will they place on you? are all the propertys of a simmilar age? otherwise I would reckon on 6 to 8 weeks?

Important: get some more quotes! ok, true we haven't had many prices for double glazing this one is 6 months old 11 sealed double glazed window units (three toughened glass) for standard 1960s semi plus new front door and side panels for £3,450 http://www.whatprice.co.uk/prices/building/glazier.html This is also an interesting article that you should have a read of http://www.whatprice.co.uk/tradesmen/double-glazing.html The main thing is to get a couple more quotes as well and don't tell them how much you first quote was!

Sounds a touch pricey but not crazy, as HiHO says get some more quotes!
I had some double glazing put in, 4 windows in total
2 x 1200 x 1800 2 x 600 x 1800
cost just shy of £2000.

Always a good idea to go for at least 3 quotes on your double glazing

Hi just though i would give this thread a bump as i have just bought my first house. We are looking to replace the old wood framed windows with UPVC double glazing.
I have just recieved quote of 3100 for 7 windows, 3 doors (1 is a bin cupboard!). Fully fitted, judging by some of the posts on here tis seems fairly reasonable. Working out at £310 per unit.
2 more quotes are being done at the weekend.
